This is a collaborative project, supported by
the California-Catalonia
Engineering Innovation Program, and involves Prof.
Benjamin Villac (UCI), Prof. Josep Mondelo (Universitat
Autonoma de Barcelona) and industry partners Universal
Space Lines (Newport Beach, CA) and GTD
Systems and Software Engineering (Barcelona, Spain). The objective
is to compute, classify, and assess periodic orbits in the Earth-Moon
system with regard to their utility for communications, navigation,
and cargo transportation in cis-lunar space. Dynamical systems
theory, analytical perturbation methods, and numerical methods
are being used to compute families of periodic orbits that visit
both Earth and Moon.
